Latir - Am I Allowed To Say I Missed You? (Single)
Releasing his new single following support from SBTV and Huw Stevens, is Gambian born and now UK based RnB musician Latir. His new single “Am I Allowed To Say I Missed You” demonstrates his musical upbringing and ascent into a world of 80’s soul music inspired by the fusion of hip-hop, old school jazz, indie and electronic music.
Talking on his inspirations and motivations behind his music, Latir writes “I really want to make music that affects people, inspired by our moments and memories... whether in love, subjects like anxiety, depression, social justice matters, etc... My aim is to transcend people now and forever, to aid and relate, and to be the sonic backdrop to all our most prevalent feelings in the most nostalgic, melancholic, wavy way ever… If I've managed to transcend these feelings either live on stage or in someone’s headphones/speakers, then my purpose has been served”.
“Am I Allowed To Say I Miss You?” is a song about a breakup and the reminiscent memories that had come with it. He writes, “I’ve been through a break up this year... This song acknowledges the fact that our most beautiful moments have passed, but questions whether we’re able to look back and appreciate the good moments we had, rather than acting like they never happened... Vulnerably so, questioning whether you’re allowed to tell your ex that you miss them? (Is that such a crime? Perhaps... Perhaps not.)”
Am I Allowed To Say I’ve Missed You is out now on all streaming platforms.
