FLOHIO - Out Of Heart (Album)

FLOHIO releases her highly anticipated debut album “Out Of Heart” following the release of three singles: the melancholic and expansive Cuddy Buddy”, effervescent and forward-facing “SPF”, hard-hitting and forthright “Highest.

It’s FLOHIO’s world and we’re all just living in it. The rapper, singer-songwriter, party starter and artist extraordinaire is the table-shaking, fiercely independent titan carving out a unique lane for herself in music; that of a disruptor. A unique figure utilising the infectious sounds of UK music – everything from sparse grime to immersive, trippy house - to deliver visceral, high-energy rap anthems for a generation.

“Out of Heart” is an opus brimming with brutal honesty and euphoric production, elevating FLOHIO’s lyrical steez. An album that was almost two years in the making, its creation was fastened by the COVID-19 pandemic and its ensuing lockdown, forcing FLOHIO to halt her hectic touring schedule and renew her creative devices. Across 12 tracks, executively produced by industrial hip-hop innovators God Colony and the aforementioned Speech, it reveals the most vulnerable yet enduring version of FLOHIO. The result is a debut album flourishing with artistic poise, an elegant exploration of UK rap and its fringes.

FLOHIO details the album’s sound palette and its significance: “I grew up around the time of games like Playstations and Nintendos; I’m bringing back the nostalgia of me in my living room playing games with my friends at age 10. Game soundtracks like Final Fantasy and Super Mario. I wanted [Out of Heart] to speak to my inner child and where it all started while bringing me back to now and who I am today.”

After igniting minds with her high octane performance of “Bands” on COLORS, FLOHIO continued to cement her status by releasing a series of barnstorming singles, leading her to 2020’s acclaimed mixtape “No Panic, No Pain”, a visceral statement that equally gave platform to her relentless experimentation and unmatched dexterity across its ten tracks. Alongside further accolades from the likes of the BBC’s ‘Sound Of’, Dazed 100 and Naomi Campbell in her “10 Rising Female Stars Reimagining Our Future” for British Vogue, FLOHIO has become one of the most in-demand voices in contemporary UK music, having worked with diverse talents ranging from The Streets to Clams Casino and German electronic pioneers Modeselektor.
