kid apollo - u the real star here (EP)
Brixton, London based lo-fi R&B trio kid apollo have released their new single "lost in her phone" - the final track to be shared from new EP 'u the real star here' - out now, released today 18th November via Sweat Entertainment.
kid apollo's new EP 'u the real star here' features the previously released singles "all on me", "camera shy" and "leave her" - receiving widespread press adoration (COLORS, Notion, CLASH, The Line Of Best Fit, GUAP, New Wave Magazine, DUMMY Mag, Noctis Mag, Early Rising) and huge Spotify editorial support (Alternative R&B, Fresh Finds, The Other List, Fresh Finds R&B, Our Generation).
New single "lost in her phone" was written and produced by kid apollo, with additional production from Tev'n (Rina Sawayama, Joy Crookes) and mixed by JHJ (cityboymoe, Mac Wetha, Olivia Dean).
Filled with dulcet vocals, acoustic guitars, and soft keys, vocalist Jimmy HM discussed the lyrical inspiration behind "lost in her phone": "This was just me writing about a time when I thought I needed to make space between myself and someone else, but then realised that this didn’t actually help. ‘lost in her phone’ is just a way of expressing that I didn’t feel like I could reach that person anymore."
Consisting of twin brothers (and producers) Felix and Theo Ratigan and singer/producer Jimmy HM, kid apollo create visceral, contemplative lo-fi R&B, tackling the anxieties and over-stimulation of teenage life in London. Embodying warmth and sorrow and brimming with unsparing honesty throughout, the 'u the real star here' EP typifies the all-too-familiar teenage pangs of heartbreak and uncertainty.
