NOTI - Take 02 (Album)
NOTI releases his second album ‘take 02’ on 18th November through Radicalis, with the focus track ‘Ode feat. AMOA’.
The 10 songs are a journey of mood - sometimes heavy like ‘Coda feat. Sam Himself’, sometimes playful like the two instrumental tracks ‘Whirl’ and ‘Cumulus’.
The focus track for the album ‘Ode’, and the previously released ‘A Hundred Times’ feature AMOA (Andrea Thoma), both nodding their head to the golden age of British trip-hop.
The electro-tinged ‘Mirage’ pulses along in relaxed matter-of-factness. ‘Sunkissed’ does something similar and, thanks to Annie Goodchild's soulful voice, rises up into a light and airy R'n’B number. On ‘Run’, a jazzy-tinged downtempo instrumental, Domenico Catalano (Basel Symphony Orchestra) takes his place on trombone. ‘Pas’ is a sort of hybrid of dub and early soul music influences. ‘Velvet’, a balladesque piano piece, marks the album's resting point.
Mixed and mastered with long-time collaborator Ben Mühethaler, ‘Take 02’ walks a tightrope of instrumental downtempo/ambient music, playfully hinting at NOTI’s interest in a wide range of music genres. Attention to detail and defined sonic aesthetic is a common thread throughout the production as drum samples sit precisely, and analog layers of snyth provide a digital contour to finger picked guitars.
NOTI’s list of collaborations with artists on the concert stage and in the studio is long. These include personalities such as: Steff La Cheffe, Greis, Endo Anaconda, Audio Dope, Stefanie Heinzmann, Baze, Manillio, Red Moon, Anna Rossinelli, James Gruntz, Matthias Gusset, Caroline Alves, the Symphony Orchestras of Basel and Bern etc.
NOTI is the solo project of Benjamin Noti and the focus is on instrumental music. With this his second album, ‘take 02’ arrives and as the title suggests: it is certainly not his last, but marks another creative stage in his musical career.
