Motive105 - Then C.U.T

Motive105 is West London’s hottest prospect right now when it comes to Hip Hop in the UK, with the spotlight on West London due to the success of Central Cee and Digga D, Motive is the next in a young and hungry line-up of top tier rappers from the West side of the Thames.

“Then C.U.T” is Motive105’s last offering in terms of singles this year. The single is taken from the surprise project dropped earlier this year called “The Undeniable Run” which Motive just performed in it’s entirety at a packed out raucous show at Shepherd’s Bush Hall. After a two years that has culminated in touring alongside Kojey, his own headline show and shoutouts in various blogs across the country, I caught up with Motive105 to see how the last few years have been.

Explain the track ‘Then Cut’, what is about and how did it come to happen?

Another record that got churned out in the length of time spent with my brother Parked Up. When I made this I wanted to develop a record that reflected how I feel when I step out these days. I don’t really like to go out like that but when I do go out it’s always love and power circling me.

This video looks like a personal one for you, what was the concept behind it?

It’s just a two day stretch of me getting on with life, after a flood of well curated visuals over the last year, the team wanted to put something out that was sentimental to us as a unit. It acted more as a memory bank for us going on tour with Kojey in November.

The Undeniable Run was a surprise mixtape and a change in the direction of sound for you, what inspired the record?

I’m constantly testing out my capabilities every-time I jump in with new producers. A rare moment came a long where I met someone with an output level the same as mine (Parked Up)… we got in and the rest was history.

What did it feel like to perform at Shepherd’s Bush Hall, a local show for you if I'm correct?

I haven’t had time to soak in highlight reels, I been busy thinking about the next step and the next areas to tackle for my team and I. The vision runs deep and I’ve committed to the long term leg work that comes with it.

Lastly, what should we be looking forward to in 2023?

A film.

Watch the video below and be sure to keep an eye on Motive’s movements for next year as we think he will have a big 2023.
