TUNTU - Made Different (Official Video)
Leeds/London based rap artist TUNTU released his debut music video, Made Different on December 8th, filmed and directed by GRIT Multimedia.
The captivating two minute visual depicts a series of situations which represent standing independently in the limelight, despite the potential detriment of being left behind by the mainstream. It explores how it can make artists want to become two people at the same time - a public and personal version of themselves. The video is lyrically coupled with themes of being beholden to a younger self, who wanted to be whatever is now their adult responsibility to become, and whether it is possible to truly fulfil his early aspirations. All the while a mellow, symphonious instrumental underpins and enhances the emotions he expresses.
Miro, founder of GRIT Multimedia, provided more personal insights into the creation process of the music video. “I guess the scenes came about first from a desire to create a visually striking image, rather than thinking of the meaning behind them first,” explained Miro. “As a company, we wanted to push ourselves into territories of filmmaking we haven't attempted yet. The most apparent example of that is the scene where he watches himself walking up a building. As well as the various tricks we pull off throughout the video. For us as filmmakers it was a series of challenges and visual effects and trying to answer the question of can we achieve this and can it look good on a relatively miniscule budget? I think in the end it all worked perfectly mainly because we didn't go too far.”
