Joe Armon-Jones + Fatima - #1 (Official Video)
Joe Armon-Jones and Fatima have released new collaborative track #1 and a playful video directed by Broken Antenna. The duo have also announced a forthcoming joint EP, Tinted Shades, out 4th March through Armon-Jones’ label, Aquarii Records and a playful video directed by Broken Antenna.
#1 spans soul, hip-hop, R&B and jazz; Fatima’s lyrics juxtapose radiant optimism with dark times and her mesmerising vocals mesh perfectly with Armon-Jones’ increasingly accomplished production. The single also features Black Midi’s Morgan Simpson on drums.
Joe Armon-Jones is at the epicentre of London’s vibrant underground music scene thanks to his solo output and role as keyboard player in Ezra Collective. Described by Mary Anne Hobbs as, “possibly the hottest keyboard player in the world right now”, his growing list of collaborators include the late Tony Allen, Mick Jenkins, Nubya Garcia, Mahalia, Poppy Ajudha and Obongjayar. Last year, Armon-Jones launched his own label, Aquarii Records, with the intention of creating, “a home for the music that is around me; somewhere it can live and flourish”.
Fatima is a Stockholm-born, London-based soul singer - a vocal powerhouse with a beautiful tone who's written and collaborated with Floating Points, Knxwledge, Roc Marciano and Dâm-Funk. Recently, Fatima has been touring with her band, providing live vocals for Larry Heard and producing her monthly radio show on NTS, Fatima’s Maple Syrup Waffle Show.
