Surya Sen - Earn It (Single)

North London’s rising talent Surya Sen returns with his first single of the year, the attitude-packed and high-octane “Earn It”, released today with the announcement of his debut mixtape “At What Cost?”.

Sampling the late ‘70s New York band ESG’s track of the same title “Earn It”, Surya presents his contemporary take on a South Bronx funk classic. Drawing on the bass-laden sound deployed by the band’s original track, Sen blends attitude-soaked verses with his signature gritty vocals and flow. 

A big moment from the forthcoming mixtape, “Earn It” is Surya’s statement on the relentless hard-graft of London life - the highs and lows of living month to month in the city Sen reps to the fullest: “Earn It’ is a big moment for me. It’s the final single before my mixtape comes out and it sums up all of the blood, sweat and tears that defined 2021 and the mentality I felt I needed to survive it, over a big distorted bassline. It’s about hard graft in London and doing what you can month on month to survive and thrive in the city. My first mixtape “At What Cost?” is set in July /aug 2021 and centers around one night in post lockdown London. It details the feelings and emotions that arise throughout the night and a sonic and social commentary of London around me. It’s almost time to share it with the world and I can’t wait for you to hear it.”
