Yxngxr1 - Sweatshirt (Single)
Breakout indie-rap talent Yxngxr1 has unveiled his new single ‘Sweatshirt’ out now.
Yxngxr1 combines melancholic guitar strings with trap snares and his own impassioned vocals on ‘Sweatshirt’. The track will feature on his forthcoming project Teenage Motel, set to become his sixth long player release since his 2019 debut Childhood Dreams, which pulled in over 60 million Spotify streams.
“The loose idea is two people fall in love at a motel, but they realise it’s not going to work out,” he says of the new LP. “They live fucking hundreds of miles away from each other and probably can’t keep it up. There’s a sad ending, but you could still listen to it and think ‘that could be me’.”
A true product of the internet generation, Yxngxr1 is a multi faceted artist from Cardiff who first generated a buzz with debut single ‘Tyler’ in 2019 - in between holding down a post-high school day job at Foot Locker. Following his viral explosion across fan-favourite singles such as ‘Rather Do’, ‘RockStore’, ‘721’, ‘Pigeons’ and more, he also released a flurry of full-length projects, including Childhood Dreams, I Don’t Suit Hats, YELLOW YELLOW YELLOW, DigiKid and Digikid 2, drawing praise from The Line of Best Fit, tmrw magazine, Buzz Mag and The Guardian, who applauded his ‘lovably lo-fi indie-rap’.
