Asher Kosher ft: Bel Cobain - On Our Street (Single)

North London rapper Asher Kosher – founding member and pillar of the Hackney-based Root 73 studio and artist community – is back after a long hiatus with ‘On Our Street’; a single marking the start of a new chapter in his artist career.

Raised on a diet of A Tribe Called Quest, Tu-Pac, Eminem and later, UK rappers like Dizzee Rascal, Sway and Choong Family – as well as Benjamin Zephaniah’s 2004 book, ‘Gangsta Rap’ – Kosher’s love of lyricism runs deep.

Laid bare on new single ‘On Our Street’ featuring the textural, smooth-as-you-like vocals of Bel Cobain, another to pass through the doors of Root 73 (also home to breakout UK star, Enny) via The Silhouettes Project – an off-shoot platform dedicated to pushing new-gen underground UK hip-hop, jazz and soul – Kosher’s bars are thoughtful but decisive, and his flow tempered, hushed; a woozy soundtrack for late-summer overground journeys across London’s sprawling skyline.

“This is about me feeling at ease with my self”, Kosher says of ‘On Our Street’ – the first single to be released from a forthcoming full-length project. “It’s a full circle moment for me and I feel privileged to have Bel Cobain a part of it, too. She came to us through The Silhouettes Project and she’s a big, big talent.”
