NGC - River (Single)

Formed in South London, NGC (New General Catalogue) consist of duo FantasyFile and TsarJoe. After years of travel, friendship and working together on other projects, the duo decided to form the group with a vision too expanding on their musical processes. Thus creating a musical and artistic world that lends itself to organic emotive music and visuals. The group relies heavily on live room recordings processed and edited digitally and manually. Here with vivid new release ‘River’, the track is prominently based around an ambient, electronic R&B arrangement.

Raised in South London but hailing from Nigerian, Jamaican and Saint Lucian backgrounds the duo draw influences in their music from their cultural upbringings, travels and lived experiences across the world. This ultimately influenced their idiosyncratic musical style, which is both introspective and wide ranging but at its core based in an alternative organic and electronic sound that fuses elliptical songwriting and unconventional production techniques.

Speaking about the new release, NGC shares, “River is song about insecurities in a relationship and how fear of being replaced by another human being can affect how you see someone in a relationship. when there is a lack of trust and no trust placed in your partner human beings tend to place their trust in the wrong things. Hence the lyric 'place your trust in me baby'. River to us is a song that is reflective both of our mood and experiences in life, coupled with our desire to make music that is both introspective and wide ranging in its ability to place people in a desired mindstate.”
