Drea sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

I’ve always had a passion for music. I grew up to my pops playing all the classics and he really influenced my love for music. I started out singing hooks for friends or jumping on a verse here and there. Now I’m embracing becoming a solo artist and letting the world get Familiar with me.

]2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

I absolutely love old school r’n’b. But I truly love all music. Aaliyah was my biggest influence. So much, that I named my daughter after her. I love how she was sexy but not over the top. I loved her tomboy swag. Most of all I loved her voice and the music. She created such great love songs and carried herself like a lady.

If I could work with any artist it would have to be Jhené Aiko.

I love her vibe, I love her voice, I love her style, I love everything about her.

I also love that she’s a Pisces like me. I think the thing about her is she kind of is a modern day Aaliyah, in my opinion.

3.  What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?

I’ll be dropping a new version of I’ll be seeing you by Billie Holiday. We shot an amazing video and hopefully I did her justice. Also stay tuned for my podcast dropping soon. It’s called Dos Mucho. I am currently in the studio working on my next project so just stay tuned.

4. How would you describe your sound?

My sound is r’n’b. My sound is pop. My sound is kind of old school. I can’t really put myself in one category because a lot of my stuff is very different.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

I had the pleasure of performing for the first time, my own solo music, at ATL Black Pride Festival, this summer. They showed me so much love. The whole day was good vibes and people supporting people and it was an amazing feeling.

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

My advice is don’t quit. It’s going to get difficult. People are going to doubt you. You’re going to doubt yourself. Don’t quit. Keep progressing. Keep working on music. Stay focused. You gotta miss out. Your friends will tell you not to rehearse because they want you to go to the party. Don’t get distracted. Work on your mindset and self love. Get your look together. You have to have the total package. Mind body soul. This is not an overnight process. Most times it takes years. So if you really love music and it’s what you want, be willing to put in the time and effort. You’ll attract your tribe and they will feel your message from the music. Just give it time.

7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?

Joyner Lucas. He’s so underrated.

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

Honestly I listen to a lot of old music so I’m most likely to be playing something from the 90s.

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

I’m a mommy. Something that most people don’t know is that she’s autistic. So if you don’t see me shooting or recording. I’m in therapy with her on weekdays. Now when I’m not doing mom things, I’m a water baby. I love the beach. Jet skis. I also like low key stuff like bowling and playing pool. I also box. I’m currently training for Bad Girls Boxing. I’ll be fighting another reality personality soon.
