On her first release of this year, London-based Egyptian songwriter Layal shares the affecting and soulful new outing ‘Temporary Highs’. Filled with influences from her heritage, it’s a release that showcases an artist with a complete and full-bodied set of musical influences. Lyrically, the track is a rallying all for womxn everywhere, as Layal states, se wrote this song for women, to tell them that they will not be overshadowed and that the sky's the limit because they have so much potential.

Temporary Highs follows last year’s June and For The Love Of The Cool, and continues in their intoxicating musical vein. Crossing the boundaries or RnB, Soul and funk - it’s a unique piece from one of London’s most exciting new artists. Speaking on the release, Layal states:

This song is heavily influenced by my Egyptian roots. It’s inspired by the Me Too movement which took place around the summer of 2020. I wrote this song for women, to tell them that they will not be overshadowed and that the sky's the limit because they have so much potential. This is also sending the message that people should focus on their own journey rather than judging others. This song is very personal for me as it’s something I always like to bring attention to whether through my conversation or my music so I enjoyed writing this.

The instrumental is inspired by many Egyptian artists and music and it really ties the song together.
