James BKS ft: Gracy Hopkins - Pana Njia (Official Video)

French-Cameroonian artist, producer and multi-instrumentalist James BKS releases his new single and epic new video ‘Pana Nija’ featuring the French artist Gracy Hopkins, the first single since his viral hit ‘New Breed’ (feat. Q-Tip, Idris Elba & Little Simz).

Meaning “where there is a will, there is a way”, James BKS originally composed ‘Pana Nija’ with his late father, the world-renowned Cameroonian saxophonist Manu Dibango, for his last symphonic tour. A vibrant melding of hip-hop, Congolese guitar rhythms and South African choir chant, the result is utterly compelling and summons Manu Dibango’s memory, voice and kindness. “The song is about the physical and spiritual fights we have to put every day and the conflicts between our roots and the current state of the system,” explains James BKS. “The window of opportunity is pretty tiny, and our souls and brains are huge. Anybody having bigger dreams than the usual can relate to this.”

Speaking about the video director Willy Berquier says, “As James's music, the audacity of this clip was to create a narrative and creative balance, different from what we are used to consume. We imagine willingly a lot of stories in the story that push viewers to immerse themselves in their universe.”
