Boome - Pineapple Sundays Remix (Official Video) + 10 Questions
From the red clay Marietta Georgia, musician Boome made a move to Texas and started making a name for himself, touring with the likes of Juicy J, Machine Gun Kelly, Bun B, Bone Thugs and many others. Assembling his core audience and crowning his fans The Skywalkers.
His new single ‘Pineapple Sundays Remix’ is out now. The song was influenced by 80’s Pop which is Boome’s favourite genre of music and also by artists like Prince, Michael Jackson and Toto. It’s a perfect summer beat to listen to while relaxing next to the pool or enjoying a sunny ride.
"At its core music is supposed to make you feel good, with ‘Pineapple Sundays’ I just wanted that feeling for everyone to sing to it. I feel like the biggest songs in the world are love songs. The language of love is universal and I definitely want to make music that unifies and speaks to everyone." - Boome
Boome sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:
1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?
My love for music was definitely sparked by my big brother. It all started as a kid, my mom bought my brother a little piano for Christmas. He learned to play by ear, I thought that was amazing. So jokingly I started making up random songs to whatever he played, unknowingly I was becoming a songwriter. One day he turned around and looked at me and said "You're kind of good at this".
2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?
To be honest I don't have a long list. My creation process is usually pretty private, I look at writing songs almost like a therapy session, it's a special moment. But I am still inspired by artists like The Weekend, Childish Gambino, Lana Del Rey and Andre 3000. To me those artists create outside the box, they're not trying to fit in and I love that.
3. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?
I have two projects coming up. The first one which is very important to me is titled "Amadou's Brother", it's a tribute from my brother who passed away last year. He's the reason I ever started writing music, and I want my story to always include him. The second one is titled "Midnight in Paris" which will be a love album, the vibe will be similar to Pineapple Sundays. But also will have some darker romantic aspects to it, my fans love that side of me so I definitely wanna make sure I continue to curate those vibes. Also we just released a documentary titled "Satellites in Texas" On Amazon Prime Vide and Tubi which tells the story of my life behind the music.
4. How would you describe your sound?
I would describe my sound as free. One album may be all Raps for me, the other may be me singing the whole album. On the Rap side I've always written the music from the perspective of being on stage already, the production is usually high energy but connects to real life concepts. On the R&B side those songs are easy for me to write, I think love is the strongest language in the world. If you want your music to connect all over the world, make sure you include love because everyone can understand that. This is where I can connect an amazing story to a beautiful melody.
5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?
My proudest moment is actually my best friends choosing to walk out to my song at their wedding reception. The reason that's special to me is that it's a moment they will hold on to forever. It just made me proud that I could provide the soundtrack for that very special moment between them.
6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?
It's simple for me, I would say be your own artist. Only create things you love, create freely, and don't chase trends. On the business side I would say never try to convince someone that your music is good, just know in your heart that it is and carry on.
7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?
I think Russ is dope right now, SZA as well I think she's undeniable.
8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?
Chilombo by Jhene Aiko, Camp by Childish Gambino and It's Almost Dry by Pusha T.
9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?
Fitness is high on my list, just because I believe it does wonders for your mind, so I love working out. I also enjoy watching movies and breaking down scenes. Playing video games with my son and jumping in the pool.
10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?
Sage, water, and a peaceful vibe.
