French Ghanaian artist Patricia Baloge announces her forthcoming extended player – Queen Of The Dawn. Set for release on July 22, 2022, Patricia reveals the first single from the five-track offering – Victory.

Exuding a hypnotic soundscape from the very first beat, Victory opens with sparse percussion and eerie synths before a bouncy bassline is added into the mix. Introducing her alluring vocals, the instrumental arrangement is intricately laced around her distinctive singing and spoken words. Juxtaposing sharp and soft sonic elements, this multi-textured creation readies listeners for what is yet to come, and expresses Patricia’s daring and uncompromising musical prowess.

Channelling her eclectic upbringing into every ounce of her craft, New York-based singer, producer and artist Patricia Baloge is on a mission to shake up the music scene. Her sound is a modern fusion of House, Afrohouse, Afropop and Synthwave, resulting in a seductive blend that features her instantly recognisable vocals. Cutting her teeth in New York, Patricia began DJ’ing at clubs across the city before discovering the true essence of her artistry.

Patricia sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer out infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

Growing up, I was always an avid listener of music. I would spend so much time researching and discovering new sounds. I also loved singing and channeling melodies. A few years ago I felt the urge to start creating my own sound as a tool to express my emotions and to transform. It felt as if I had come to a point in life where God was like “Okay, you’ve been through all these experiences, now make music from it.” Music has and continues to give meaning to my life. That’s why I love it so much.

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

This is always a hard question for me because there are so many amazing artists I’m inspired by. To name a few I’d go from Jamie Woon, SBTRKT, Abra, Niniola, Sarkodie, Banks, FKA Twigs and the list goes on.

3. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?

I’m on the verge of releasing my next EP called “Queen of The Dawn”. The whole project is about the mindset required for a woman to get from a point of darkness to finally see the light. It will be out on July 22nd.

4. How would you describe your sound?

I’d say that my sound is mainly Electronic music with Afro influences.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

Working on my upcoming EP and being on the verge of releasing it is my proudest moment at this point. I’m excited to get it out in the world.

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

I’d say that it’s very important to understand that your vision is as valuable as anybody else’s vision in this game. So staying true to yourself, sticking to your values, embracing and developing your singularity should be the foundation of it all.

7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?

Definitely go check out Obongjayar and Ibeyi.

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

“Motomami” by Rosalia and “Gore” by Lou and The Yakuza

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

I like to stay creative so I work on Studio Baloge, my jewellery line.

10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?

Water, some inspiration and a nice beat to get things started.
