Hailing from Berlin, Indian rising star Johnny Kulo offers organic R&B number ‘Loyal’ and heads straight into our favourite playlists. Kulo has never failed to deliver; alongside the thread of enticing music since his debut in 2018, this fresh new release does not disappoint!

Beginning with delicious vocal samples, the track sets the tone for a smooth ride. Kulo’s tender vocals are captivating. In some instances, the top line and lyrical metrics recall those of R&B master Mac Ayers, as they showcase skilful musical charisma. To further allure the listener, the guitar plays a sultry lick, which Kulo wrote playing around at the studio with producer August Ingram. This spontaneous approach inspired the rest of the creative process for ‘Loyal’, leading the singer to embrace his feelings by omitting all filters and expressing himself in all honesty.

Tackling the themes of relationships and commitment, Kulo dances playfully around the absorbing bass line, groove-filled beat and sumptuous vocal arrangements. The ending, a synth pattern extravaganza, is potentially one of our favourites this year - magnetic and so tasteful!
