JYDN HILL - Shame On You (Single)

JYDN HILL is focused on creating his own lane in the constantly-innovating genre of R&B, and it’s one to watch out for.

On his newest release, ‘Shame On You’, JYDN HILL plays the low-profile R&B crooner role perfectly with his understated, yet evocative vocals and intimate self-reflection.  'Shame On You’ is based on his toxic past relationship, with JYDN lamenting about the lack of loyalty from his ex, while firmly deciding to flip the script on her when he sings, “I don’t want complaining, b*tch, I’m single. This will never change… keep it simple. Trippin’ when you see me overseas, keep your baggage far away from me.” The song utilises a mix of softer and darker elements, as the harsh sentiment is equally reflected with infectious drums and moody melodies, but then is balanced with softer elements of afro-cuban guitars, which could be just  as at home on a Carlos Santana track.

Speaking about the release he tells us: “At the time that I wrote 'Shame On You' I was just coming out of a very shitty, toxic relationship and a lot of these feelings were heavy on my mind. It’s crazy how people can be out here in relationships acting slimy, while projecting all of their dirty laundry onto you as if you’re the problem. I had to deal with a lot of lies, unnecessary drama and projecting over the course of 4 years. There were always complaints whenever I was at the studio late or travelling overseas for writing camps; and when good things in my career started to happen, I really felt like the love was disingenuous. So when I was in the studio that day I had to get a lot of things off my chest, and the song came about very quickly”.
