French Kiwi Juice (FKJ) - Different Masks For Different Days (Official Video)

Multi-instrumentalist and production extraordinaire French Kiwi Juice (FKJ) returns today with the video for “Different Masks For Different Days”. It’s an audiovisual exploration of the different faces people adopt depending on the situation they might find themselves in.

The melancholic album moment has been newly adorned with an artful and kinetic video accompaniment, directed by Greg Barnes, viewers follow the erratic flight path of professional dancer Més Lesne through the twilight streets of Paris. Mimicking the movements of passers by in an abstract flow, Lesne heightens the feeling of loneliness presented by the arrangement, his character a clear outsider striving to fit in via mimicry and assimilation through physical movement.

FKJ delves deeper into the concept behind “Different Masks For Different Days”: “The inspiration for this title came from the feeling of being a social chameleon. From time to time I would catch myself altering my being depending on who I was with. A weird feeling which made me write down this sentence “Different Masks For Different Days”.

The day I made this instrumental I felt this was the one. The one that would appropriate this title. There is something melancholic and dark about hiding behind a mask and not fully showing yourself. Visuals of a big city by night, the place and time where most socialisation takes place, would cross my mind. With a main character that would be the chameleon. Jumping from a group of people to another.
