Killer Mike ft: Young Thug - RUN (Official Video)
Killer Mike has released his first solo music in over a decade with new single RUN featuring Young Thug. The track is produced No I.D. (Jay-Z, Kanye West, Vince Staples) and comes with a powerful video directed by Adrian Villagomez that includes an opening monologue by Dave Chapelle.
RUN explores the often ignored contribution of Black people to American and world history, patriotism, the Black experience, and is intentionally released today on America’s Independence Day.
A Grammy Award-winning rapper and activist, Killer Mike has consistently campaigned for what he believes in and spoken out against injustices. He’s currently involved in the fight to stop prosecutors using rap lyrics as evidence in court; an attack on freedom of speech First Amendment rights that disproportionally harms Black artists and is being used against fellow Atlanta-rapper Young Thug. Previously, Mike has campaigned for Bernie Sanders, helped in the successful election of Atlanta’s first Black female mayor, and famously made a moving, unscripted and viral public speech following the murder of George Floyd. Mike accepted Billboard’s first-ever 'Change Maker Award' in recognition of his work as a musician and social justice activist.
No stranger to the TV screen, Mike recently made a cameo in the final season of Ozark, and has created and presented his own shows, Trigger Warning (Netflix), and Love & Respect (WPBA / Revolt) with guests such as Jack White, Tyler Perry and Big Boi.
RUN is Mike’s first solo offering since his 2012 breakout solo album, R.A.P. Music, which was wholly produced by El-P. Mike and El went on to form Run The Jewels and release four blistering albums. Later this week, the duo begin on a huge international tour with Rage Against The Machine that includes stops at Reading and Leeds festivals.
