GIYA - foggy hearts (Single)

GIYA’s influence comes from her home city of London but she now resides in Brighton. It’s clear This influence shines through; as she has lived and breathed the same air as Arlo Parks, Olivia Dean and Amy Winehouse, and with a city full of such a mix of cultures, music and entertainment her music nods to multiple influences and genres. The grit in her music reflects her surroundings which she transforms into something sharply poetic, all done with a devilish wit, too.

Her latest offering ‘foggy hearts,’ presents an emotional message and acts as an ode to lives not lived, and peers who had lost their way. The track is blessed with GIYA’s silkey, raw vocals that are expressed on top of a euphonious foundation that features a melodic guitar. This in partnership with well-crafted lyrics showcases her musicianship in abundance.

Speaking about the release she says: “I wrote it after one of those moments where you look up, and everyone around you is either drinking themselves to death, or finding some other way to distract themselves. It felt like everyone was a little bit lost. It seems to be a common theme among young people today, and hope for the future sometimes seems like a pointless exercise but for me foggy hearts at its core, though, it’s a hopeful song.”
