Subwork celebrates its 10th release by welcoming the incredible Dr Syntax and Octo Pi to the label. This release sees these two talents join forces once again after their awesome release on AFT Records, ‘It’s Like That’, in 2021.

Dr Syntax has been releasing music and performing since the early 2000s. In 2003, he featured on Foreign Beggars’ debut album, ‘Asylum Speakers’, and toured with them extensively. Later he teamed up with Mancunian hip-hop band The Mouse Outfit, appearing on all of their albums and performing with them at countless venues and festivals across Europe. More recently he has been known for his work with producer Pete Cannon, with whom he has a string of collaborative releases including 2014’s ‘Killer Combo’, which featured guest appearances from UK rap luminaries Dirty Dike and Lunar C, and legendary Heiroglyphics member Del The Funky Homosapien. 2019 saw Dr Syntax & Pete Cannon’s release their latest album, ‘Wallop’.

Octo Pi, originally from Swansea and now residing in Bristol, has released music on some of the biggest labels in Drum and Bass including Viper Recordings, Drum & Bass Arena, Jungle Cakes and V Recordings. His appearance on D&B TV after winning the Drum & Bass Arena Competition for remixing DJ Fresh’s ‘Gold Dust’ kick-started his journey into Drum and Bass, and lead to him featuring on Rene LaVices Radio 1 show and performing at festivals and venues around the world.

Their first release on Subwork sees them bringing their killer track ‘The Mission’ to the fold. Dr Syntax brings his razor sharp bars and Octo Pi his upfront, meticulous production! A dubbed out start builds into the raucous bass and beats we’ve come to expect from Octo Pi, while Dr Syntax lays out his precision vocals, with both delivering a stellar track from start to finish.
