Amahla - Reason (Official Video)

In the light of her new empowering release ‘Reason’, Amahla has released a music video which emphasizes her meanings and inspirations. Raised in a Caribbean household in Hackney her upbringing was filled with literature and classic vinyl records, which demonstrates where her immaculate creative ability originates from. The track is rich with expressive harmonies, distinct vocals and delightful drum-breaks, and adds moving emotions to the meanings that influence it. The music video is the icing on the cake, and demonstrates why Amahla is going to become the next powerful figure with a strong stance within R’n’B.

Throughout the music video, colour grading and set design all comes together to explore the idea of having thoughts running through someone's head. Filmed in a single room, it demonstrates isolation and manipulation. 'Reason' explores Amahla's experience of gaslighting in a past relationship. Amahla writes, “I wrote Reason about the precise moment you realize everything you saw and felt were real and you were being manipulated into thinking otherwise. At the moment it’s hard to find the right words, I wrote Reason so I don’t have to”.
