ADMT (Adam Taylor) shares his powerful new single ‘Lost’, the title track from his debut EP, which is also out now!

Poignant and relatable, ADMT’s new single ‘Lost’ touches on that desire to break free from the struggles and pressures of modern life. Effortless vocals depict those dark and overwhelming moments many of us face day to day. Lost comes as a reassuring moment of solace from a world that can be relentlessly challenging.

Sharing a little more about the track, ADMT explained: Throughout my whole life, one thing that has given me happiness is adventure, whether that be something small or traveling. I came to a point in my life where it felt like my world had collapsed personally and I was seeking joy from anything I could but nothing was really working. The state of the world had gotten me down and I sat one day pretty fed up but also with a positive outlook thinking I kind of wish I could just get lost like just go see the world and live free with no pressure and probably to run away from my problems a little too. Sometimes you have to lose yourself to find yourself.

Alongside the release of the EP, ADMT will be embarking on the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge to raise money for mental health charity Mind. The hike is over 24 miles and it will be completed in one day.

Now emerging out the other side of the pandemic ADMT is making every second count. With a sold out headline show ticked off at the end of last year and a headline show in Sheffield just announced, his hard work is finally coming to a head. [Get your tickets here!].

Brimming with R&B beats and massive pop hooks, the genre bending sound of ADMT ticks a lot of boxes. His one-of-a-kind sound had been well received, gaining plaudits from Wonderland, Clash, Flaunt, Notion and more. In addition to an impressive sweep on both NMF UK and US playlists, he has also scooped support from Huw Stephens &  BBC Introducing.

ADMT sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

Drums! Of all things, drums made me love this. I was a drummer before I sang and as a kid with too much energy and not enough that's ever made me focus I was lucky to find something that did.

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

I mean you can't not love Ed Sheeran, that would be a dream, but Tom walker, Dermot Kennedy, Sam Tompkins, Stevie Wonder, Literally the list is endless haha. Just every one please hah.

3. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?

3. My next project is my first EP. It's called Lost and it's all about starting fresh, losing yourself after all the scuse’ me but Sh*t that's going on in the world. I'm really excited to share it with people.

4. How would you describe your sound?

Hahah so this one a really don’t know, but i was lucky enough to work with a quite big producer recently and him not working with many people from Doncaster called it "Donny Swag" as much as i dunno if i agree i think we can go with that for now hahah. But I guess singer-songwriter, I hope honest too and relatable would be nice but i’m fishin’ now haha.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

My proudest moment is being invited by an artist I look up to so much to hang out and then to sing with him at his show in Wales. Teddy Swims is and will be one of the most humble and legendary humans I ever met.

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

My advice for anyone looking to get into music would be to strap yourself in, buckle up and get ready to graft, because nothings going to happen without a lot more hard work than you could have ever anticipated. I think it's the willingness to do the work that is the thing that gets you where you need to be. Obviously self belief is key too, but without the graft, self belief isn't enough.

7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?
Yes! Norskov music is one of my best friends and favourite humans and she is just insane, so unique, also Lyvia music, and a rapper called Kannan also a Donny boy haha. mad talented humans.

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

I'm actually on AfroBeats Phase and it's a vibe i can't lie. The playlist is called "Afro Beats 2022" with people such as Fire boy, Burna Boy, Omah Ley. pure vibes.

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

In all honesty I suffer a lot with ADHD, so I tend to work out quite heavily at the minute but also games it gives me something to focus on and I just got a yacht on GTA so I'm living the dream hahah. Also my friends mean the world to me so hanging out eating good food and maybe a few beers is always a vibe too haha.

10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?

Honestly I'm pretty low maintenance .. Maybe a fine champagne... hahah i joke, there's nothing i really need.. coffee, and good people is all i could really want for.
