PREMIERE: Nazzy The Mic - Sea and Sky (Single) + 10 Questions

Nazzy the Mic is a 17 year-old female rapper and artist hailing from Philadelphia. Quickly finding a love for rap music and everything it involves, Nazzy wanted to focus primarily on her flow and delivery. She is heavily influenced by Young M.A, Lil Tjay and NBA Youngboy, and these pioneers have affected the way Nazzy approaches her songs and writing.

The young troubadour has already released two albums amongst a plethora of singles, which is more than what most accomplished artists achieve in a lifetime. This just shows Nazzy’s relentless and undeniable passion for her craft, always improving and wanting to further collaborate with other artists as she continues her climb.

Nazzy the Mic focuses on real life events that have occurred to her, instilling that notion of authenticity and relatability as an artist. Living in an inner city she has witnessed violence, trauma and sexuality and as a young, female artist, wants to get that message across through her music.

She now returns with a fresh new single ‘Sea and Sky’. A collaborative project, she teamed up with label mate Mizxy Slime in a song all about love and yearning. The two have already worked together in the past, and really showcase their chemistry in this melodic hip-hop track. Mizxy starts the track off and has a real presence in his rapping and also has a real soulful hook when he sings, with the stylish production sitting underneath.

All the while, Nazzy is harmonising and layering around Mizxy’s vocal throughout, before she enters. Nazzy possesses a real pop rap flow that is hook-ridden and full of impressive rhythms that keeps you on your toes, seamlessly switching between rapping and singing.

Nazzy sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

I grew up around music. I have a lot of family members who make music. I naturally gravitated to music by free styling in local cyphers when I was seven and eventually going to the studio when I was twelve. Music is my primary way to let my inner emotions out.

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

I love Chris Brown. NBA Youngboy, No Cap, Rylo Rodriguez, H.E.R, and G Herbo are also some of my faves and who I would want to work with.

3. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?

I have a lot of things I’m working on. I have a project coming out in September called Nazzy Status Vol. 1 which is a mix of some of my older singles that get enough love with some new tracks as well. I have an EP I’m working on for October called Unicorn Hunter which is a shout out to one of my producers out of Switzerland Unicorn Hunter Productions, and I have at least 10 singles were looking at for release and Nazzy Status Vol. 2 before the year is out. We’re already looking at 2023. Maybe another Album or two.

4. How would you describe your sound?

I talk a lot about pain, my everyday life, love, and heartbreaks basically what people can relate to. I would say I’m like a mixture of Youngboy, Lil Tjay, Rod Wave, and No Cap as far as content and style. Some people say my voice sound like Dej Loaf though LOL.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

I don't think I really have one at the moment. I mean I just let things play out. Being an artist period makes me proud. I like making music and hearing what other people hear.

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

My advice is just keep doing what you doing. Personally I don't like social media but nowadays thats where all the magic happens. Keep ya social media up to date make sure you dropping music at least once a month or every other month. Always take criticism as a good thing never a bad thing. It's always good to have more than one ear. You never wanna hear your music the way that only you hear it you gotta hear what other people hear also.

7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?

Yeah check out all the Firebrand artists they’re pretty dope actually. I love my bro’s and big sis.

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

I have several by Shordie Shordie like ‘Body Language’, ‘Lip Sync/Seattle Pt. 2’, and ‘Same Niggas’ on there. I got Youngboy’s ‘Wagwan’, ‘Acclaimed Emotions’, and ‘Mr. Grim Reaper’ and ‘The Last Slime to Sampler’ on repeat of course.

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

I like to sleep a lot, play basketball sometimes, eat, like I’m a foodie for real, and I also love video games.

10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?

My phone, food, and ummm my manager said I can’t say the third…
