Tara Lily is back to whisk you away to the neon-lit streets of the Pigalle district in Paris with her new single, ‘Hotel Amour’.

The single follows Tara’s experience at the Hotel Amour; of leaving behind a turbulent love affair and embarking on her own journey. Surrounded by the hotel’s blue walls, she began writing and creating the piano riff which forms the core element of the track.

“I wrote the song when I was staying at the Hotel Amour which had a big winding staircase, and the room was blue, like you’re looking out at the sky. I had a big falling out with someone I was seeing,” Tara Lily shares.

This record takes the listener on a journey, pulling at the undercurrent of the varying subcultures of Paris. Mixing slow, mesmerising beats with impassioned jazz piano and eastern strings, ‘Hotel Amour’ grooves and moves with attitude, fusing alternative RnB, jazz and eastern sounds, drawing on Tara’s South Asian heritage and upbringing in Peckham.

“Jazz is at the root of everything that I do. I’ve explored working with other sounds and genres as I’ve gone along. Whether it’s being influenced by life, relationships, people, or culture – I’m always exploring pushing jazz in the realms of modern music and making it relative to who I am and how I live my life today.”

The music video takes place in the hotel room, its dark blue colour intensifying the dysphoria of the moment. Having trained for many years in Kathak, a traditional North Indian dance, Tara adds an extra dimension with her own choreography to further tell the story of ‘Hotel Amour’ in a way that is intimate and powerful.
