Mica Millar - More Than You Give Me (Official Video)
One of the UK’s brightest new stars, Mica Millar unveils the video for her new groove-infused single ‘More Than You Give Me’ – lifted from her 5-star debut album ‘Heaven Knows’.
With her sights set firmly on breaking into the UK mainstream, the debut album ‘Heaven Knows’ bursts with confidence, showcasing Mica’s immaculate, powerful vocal performance atop a bed of soul-infused musicianship. Each of the album’s 14 tracks spotlight Mica’s artistic approach to songwriting and production, the result is a timeless collection of modern Soul that is both reassuringly familiar yet distinctly Mica Millar. This month, Mica releases the brand new music video for the sultry, retro-soul infused single ‘More Than You Give Me’.
Widespread acclaim for the album includes a plethora of national radio support from the likes of Trevor Nelson at BBC Radio 2, a slot on Clive Anderson’s ‘Loose Ends’ on BBC Radio 4, lead single ‘Preacher Man’ championed by Craig Charles & Tom Robinson on 6 Music, support for title track ‘Heaven Knows’ on BBC Radio 1 with Victoria Jane and Flashlights on BBC Radio 2’s Good Morning Sunday.
Mica’s backing doesn’t stop there, ‘Heaven Knows’ had a 5 star ‘soul album of the month’ in Echoes Magazine and was named “a classy debut” by Daily Express plus Jazz FM became one of Mica’s biggest supporters, making ‘Girl’ their Track of the Week, play-listing ‘Heaven Knows’ with album track ‘Flashlights’ shooting straight onto the A List earlier this month, all in addition to ‘Heaven Knows’ being featured as their Album of the Week. The name ‘Mica Millar’ is also making its way across the pond, landing A List slots at Amazing Radio USA for all three of her recent singles.
On ‘More Than You Give Me’, Mica explains: “Sometimes it takes a new person or situation to make you reflect on a relationship with a new perspective. This song is about gaining that new perspective, reclaiming your power and being unapologetic about it. It’s the moment you realise the relationship isn’t right, you’re worth more and you decide to walk away. The concept for this video was about falling in and out of love. It's about the places you go to in your mind when you're fighting against the end of a relationship that you know isn't right for you and being pulled towards someone else."
The track was written, arranged and produced by Mica, who also took on engineering duties alongside bassist and engineer, Vince Chiarito (Black Puma's) and Grammy-award winning engineer Lewis Hopkins, featuring guitar by Jessie Barnes and Tom Fripp, Organ by John Ellis (Corinne Bailey Rae, Lilly Allen), drums by Jonathan Tuitt (Emile Sande, Mahalia) and mastering by Geoff Pesche (Tina Turner, Ed Sheeran, Adele) at Abbey Road Studios.
Don’t miss Mica’s two massive live shows planned for September. Playing the biggest headline shows of her career she’ll be hitting the capital’s prestigious Jazz Cafe on Saturday 17th September and then the iconic Albert Hall in Manchester on Sunday 25th September to perform her new album in full.
