PREMIERE: Briti$h - Raceway (Official Video) + 10 Questions

DJGT entertainment are proud to present their latest release, a new single from Briti$h called Raceway.

The Ipswich based MC has teamed up with Norfolk based producer, Lieu, to bring you some jazzy Hip-Hop. Raceway delves into the time of Jazz, and all the bad habits that came with it.

Accompanied by the brass samples, Briti$h reminisces of time when Jazz was in abundance, and the scenes of dancing and fun that surrounded it. Lieu’s Sax heavy instrumental brings light to the room. The combination of these elements, and Briti$h’s lyrics reflect on how Hip-Hop has continued this culture of music, and said habits.

Raceway is available on all digital streaming platforms.

Briti$h sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

Definitely listening to the radio on car journeys, and I had tapes for as long as I can remember. Feels like I was never not in love with music.

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

Jay-Z, Big K.R.I.T, Spitta, Wiz, RHCP, just to name a few. I’d also like to work with Orlando native, Caskey. (I lived there for 10 years).

3.  What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?

I’m currently working on my debut album, but have also just started a Hip-Hop crew called Purple Loft, with the DJGT crew, Don Bunks, Eff & Jetskii Dave.

4. How would you describe your sound?

I’m definitely a boom bap rapper at heart, but dabble in most rap genres, Trap, Grime, Drill etc. MC’ed a DnB event recently and have started singing a bit as well.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

Released my Chalk Alley EP on vinyl and went on a 6 date tour across the East of England last year, completely independently.

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

Just do it. (Cheers Nike.) When I moved back to the UK, I set a goal to start doing shows. Cornered a local promoter, and was on the next event. I now promote events myself and run a label.

7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?

RJ Payne is killing it right now, and Eric Jamal of Coast Contra is a madness!

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

Sadly, I lost my best friend to gun violence during lockdown, so Z-Ro & Trae (ABN) have been getting regular play again. Also, Amy Winehouse & Billie Eilish are a usual in my house.

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

I run a tattoo and piercing shop called The Purple Shop, I’m a bit of a connoisseur you could say, and also attend gigs whenever I can.

10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?

A blunt, my midi keyboard, and my records.
