P.U.R.E. - Penta (EP) + 10 Questions

P.U.R.E. is a rapper and lyricist extraordinaire from Suffolk, VA who is close with Wu Syndicate (and with whom he has done several collaborations with) and featured on none other than Raekwons 2017 album The Wild, on the track M&N. P.U.R.E has just released his latest EP Penta to cement his reputation even further as a rapper and showcases P.U.R.E’s distinctive flow, dynamic delivery and lyrical prowess even more.

P.U.R.E. sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

It all started when I seen that some guys that I’ve known from my area for some years now, got signed to Wu-Tang. They are known as Wu-Syndicate, at that moment I realised that it was possible I made my decision what I was gonna be.

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

Some of the artist that influenced me to do what I do today are the Lox, Nas, Jay Z , Black Thought from The Roots crew and Wu-Tang Clan. In the future I would love to work with artist such as Fabulous, Fat Joe, Busta Ryhmes just to name a few.

3. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?

I just recently dropped a five song EP titled Penta that is produced by Jamil Honesty and Chatproductions803. We all know in this game the work don’t stop, so following this up is my LP and all I will say about it is that if you live Hip Hop you will not be disappointed.

4. How would you describe your sound?

I would describe my sound as being fearless, bold, honest, and straight to the point. People would often tell me I have to watch what I say, but I say what is the point of having a voice if you can’t use it.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

My proudest moment is being able to obtain my own work space, because for a long time I was recording from other studios. Things are much easier when you move at your own pace without being on a clock. Getting connected with Coach da God and being apart of God Mode Records is definitely a moment I am proud of.

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

For all artist independent or signed, never let your guard down keep your head on a swivel and your eyes open. This is a nasty business as my brother Coach da God would say. This profession is more than just making money, yes that is the overall objective but for the most part it's about building relationships. Stay focus and always keep a healthy appetite to win.

7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?

Yeah, a couple of hitters from my circle. Staxx , Jamil Honesty , Ace Cannons from out of Baltimore and RexxRedd from out of Cleveland Ohio.

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

Heavy rotating on my playlist is all underground music from Emcees like Jayroyale, Planet Asia, Rim and Roc Marci,  just to name a few.

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

Creating moments with my family and friends, because time goes so fast and we get caught up in work and sometimes lose focus on what’s really important.

10. Name three things you can't live without when in the studio?

Three things I can’t live without when I’m in the studio is some good smoke, a crispy microphone and a banging beat that will make you snap your neck!!!
