Joshua Idehen - Don’t You Give Up On Me (Scrimshire remix) (Single)

Sweden based, British born Nigerian, Joshua Idehen presents a re-imagining of his soul-baring single ‘Don’t You Give Up On Me’ courtesy of legendary DJ and producer Scrimshire, releasing this September 23rd.

Following a staggering remix of the track from Jordan Stephens (formally of Rizzlekicks) and Lazy Habits which saw support from the likes of The Times, Joshua Idehen returns enlisting creative wonder and long-time collaborator Scrimshire for a special re-imagining.

Steeped in jazz, soul and funk, styles he blends with frequent nods to contempary production, Scrimshire is frequently praised for his boundary pushing and broad range of influences with his 2011 album ‘The Hollow’ being described as “A late contender for album of the year” by Radio 6 DJ Gilles Peterson.

Poetic lyricism runs through the track and presents an addictive narrative which is led to an explosive gospel chorus as Idehen collaborates with some of the most recognisable voices in the scene, including Sharlene Hector (Basement Jazz), Cleveland Watkiss (MBE), Heidi Vogel (Cinematic Orchestra) and Ade Omotayo (Amy Winehouse), the result is unsurprisingly stunning.

Scrimshaw’s remix of ‘Don’t You Give Up On Me’ is impeccably executed. Jumping straight in, the tracks punchy jazz rhythms drive the track forward, paired seamlessly with heavenly pads and Idehen’s beautiful lyricism.
