Stockton-On-Tees based artist Sisi drops her first offering of the year, "Fallen Angel". The Afro-pop inspired track sees Sisi delve into her R&B influences while staying true to her signature sound that's already secured monumental career highlights such as her Reading and Leeds Festival debut and Radio 1 plays and Radio 1Xtra track of the week.
A true superstar in the making, 18-year-old singer-songwriter Sisi is here to make a statement for the North-East. Having already received heavy backing from Youth Music & PRS, as well as regular BBC Radio support, Sis's 2023 release schedule is set to turn heads.
Speaking on the track, Sisi says: "Fallen Angel” to me is all about losing the innocence and naivety within a situation whatever that may be and finally facing the reality that not everything happens the way we would like and finding peace within those situations may be hard and that is okay."
An incredibly versatile artist covering everything from Afropop to Garage, it's no surprise that she won the prestigious 'Young Songwriter of the Year (UK & Ireland) award last year. Sis's talent has proved undeniable and at such a young age it seems that there will be no limit to her success.
Sisi sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:
1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?
Growing up in a very musical family definitely birthed my love for music, as well as growing up in the church. Appreciating that music is a way of expressing oneself allowed me to really love music.
2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?
Beyoncé has to be my biggest music inspiration and my dream collaboration. I would also love to work with Timbaland, Tems, Ayra Starr, Bree runway, Stormzy , Aitch and Mahalia!
3. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?
I have a few big singles coming out this year, and a shout out to Fallen Angel that just dropped this week. I feel like they really solidify my sound and take me vocally somewhere I’ve never really deep dived into before.
4. How would you describe your sound?
I would say the general term would be pop, but as of late, Afro-pop really resonates with my sound the most.
5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?
Probably playing the BBC introducing stage and Reading and Leeds festival at 17 year old, as it was my festival debut and it’s such an established event. I owe a lot to the BBC Introducing Tees team.

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?
Imposter syndrome comes and goes and you may get really busy at times which I’ve found has caused a loss of love for music, but as-long as you remember the root for you love of music it will always be there.
7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?
Rachel chinouriri, Debbie, Bellah, Jodie Nicholson and Merczz are currently my favourites!
8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?
Renaissance by Beyoncé is my go to at the minute, as well as Stormzy’s This Is What I Mean.
9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?
I love to experience life with my friends whether that be travelling or something as simple as watching a film.
10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?
Water is a must, my manager because she keeps me right (lol) and my phone for them lyrics cos I forget sometimes.
