mustbejohn - Losing Balance (EP)

Hertfordshire-based rapper-singer mustbejohn releases 7-track EP 'Losing Balance'. The project is influenced by UK nightlife culture - with moods for pre-drinks to hangovers - giving an insight into the coming-of-age narrative told through the lens of mustbejohn. Renowned for his relatable lyrics and extensive musical inspirations, 'Losing Balance' delves into society's challenges, high moments, and everything in between. Along with melancholic flows, he offers transparency and introspectiveness paired with an alternative Electronic production throughout by Sam Ellwood (Bertie Newman, Feux). The recent inclusion on EA Sports FC 2024  soundtrack for 'I Just Wanna Dance' alongside Discolusure-protege Higgo puts mustbejohn in high spirits ahead of the project's release.

"Communicating what's been happening over the past year makes it even more of a special project. I'm speaking about all the times I found balance in life and lost it again; sonically, it's a new sound for people to hear. There's music for the nights out, the mornings after, and of course, the good times in between."

Having dropped lead single 'Just A Glimpse' last month, mustbejohn followed up with a standout performance at Clash's live showcase alongside Bel Cobain, Kieron Boothe and JADA. The release earned co-signs from The Line of Best Fit and Notion to make an immediate statement. Standout tracks from the EP, 'Lonely' and 'Waiting' reflect his emotional sensitivity and personability through lyrics reminiscing diary entries. The highly favoured 'Buzz' connected with fans earlier this year, spelling out his ultimate mission to "chase a dream that doesn't have a cost". Closing the project with the emotive offering 'Happy Lonely' mustbejohn re-instates his ability to connect with his growing fanbase through words across a stripped-back production.
