Br3nya - Innit Innit Girl (EP)
West London's pioneering musician Br3nya arrives with the long-awaited debut EP Innit Innit Girl'. Spanning across 10-tracks, the project reflects "a perfect blend of Ghana and West London cultures that represent a true Innit Innit Girl" driven by Br3nya's ability to weave in between the cultures that have made her who she is today. An Innit Innit Girl is a tongue and cheek definition used by the older generation in Ghana to describe young people with unmatched confidence and swagger towards life. Having taken a brief hiatus from music, the rapper, singer and songwriter's return has been welcomed with open arms by friends, family, fans, and supporters who have been committed to her journey since breaking out in 2018.
The project's opener, 'Payday' marked a statement re-launch in March, representing her ability to merge sultry vocals with smooth rap flows. Following up with the summer-tinged single 'Outside', Br3nya showcases her playfulness and optimism towards life, which is installed throughout her personality aside from her music led by an anthemic chorus dismissing negative energy. Taking us to Ghana, 'Kumasi' represents a metaphorical journey of Br3nya's shedding light on unrepresented parts of the country full of life. Following an interlude that hones in on the definition of the project's title, rising Ghanaian singer and songwriter Moliy adds her angelic vocals for 'No Lovin', which defines the essence of a true Innit Innit Girl, shifting the project's mood. Production from bAd entity on 'Us' provides the perfect blend of R&B and Afrobeats featuring Alté pioneer Tay Iwar. Br3nya's fulfils the mission of enhancing the listening experience with various sonics highlighted on the final two tracks 'Comfortable' and 'Betting On Me' flexing her rap abilities with braggadocious verses and a contagious chorus. The cohesiveness of the project enhances the listening experience at the hands of Br3nya's tastemaker range of influences.
After re-emerging this year, Br3nya has been championed by the likes of BBC 1xtra's DJ Target, Apple Music's Dotty, in addition to being Kaylee Golding's track of the week with 'Outside'. Her larger-than-life persona has been captured on podcasts such as 90s Baby and Apes of Tapes alongside FD From The Future, speaking on personal and culturally relevant topics. Performances at Notion's Paris Fashion Week activation with Urban Outfitters & Juicy Couture and Clash's Next Wave showcase alongside Zakhar, BZ and jaydonclover reminded fans of her ability to captivate rooms with her organic virtuosity. Br3nya’s dedicated audience has potentially been waiting for 'Innit Innit Girl’ and will not be disappointed in this milestone moment in her career so far.
