Live: Tink @ O2 Islington

Words: Charlene Haylette

Illinois finest, rapper and singer Tink played at O2 Islington Thursday 12th October. A well needed additional night in London as part of her European leg of the Thanks 4 Everything international tour for her 4th studio album Thanks 4 Nothing, released February 2023.

Tink kicked off the set with Toxic from Thanks 4 Nothing, the crowd instantaneously drawn into the experience, singing in emotional chorus word for word. Adorned in vibrant red and diamante, she captivated fans into the musical journey.

Her performance included tracks I’m The Catch, Tongue Tied, Save Your Soul and Stingy also from the new album. Mixed in with the classics Treat Me Like Somebody from Winter’s Diary 2, CAP from A Gift and A Curse, Cut it Out from Hopeless Romantic, Cater from Pillow Talk and single Million to name a few. The beautifully energetic dancers kept up the vibe and the whole performance was very interactive with the audience. Lights filled the room from back to front from cameras capturing the moments. Tink surely took the crowd back, appeasing day ones (which was most of the room) with tracks from infamous 2011's mixtape Winter's Diary with Bonnie and Clyde. As the crowd sang along, Tink embraced it all, speaking to hearts in the crowd with her relatable lyrics and passionate delivery for a shared experience.

A great mix of up-tempo for the turn-up and slow for the more intimate part of the show, old and new, the crowd kept on the wave. The concert ended with a heartfelt message to the fans and anthem Bottom Bitch- a nod to remembering your power and worth. She states she makes music for singles and love; we may be going through it but will always rise regardless.

After the show was the meet and greet and DJ music for those staying on to further enjoy the night. As the crowd filtered out of the venue, people were still singing songs from the show, chatters of their favourite parts and a testament to the night, ‘I hope she comes again.’

Be sure to follow Tink for the latest. Her music - including ‘Thanks 4 Nothing’ available to stream now.
