Vedo drops new album “7”. The prolific Grammy nominated, R&B singer-songwriter known for being one of the most trusted writers in the R&B world and with over a billion streams across his discography, he is also loved by fans and peers alike. Outside of his hits, Vedo has writing credits across multiple songs, including Lil Dicky’s 2018 global smash hit Freaky Friday, which is now certified 2x Platinum here in the UK after scoring the #1 spot and charting for 14 weeks. Outside of Freaky Friday, Vedo has been found writing for the likes of his once mentor Usher, Ella Mai and more. You may also recognise Vedo for appearing alongside Usher in his viral NPR Tiny Desk session last year. Vedo is certainly a force within modern day R&B.

His upcoming album, aptly titled 7, sees Vedo at a state of completion, as he describes: represents completion. It represents those who seek to understand the deeper meaning of life. 7 is a lucky number and the world was created in 7 days. This album is my newest creation and a gift from me to my fans and all my supporters this far. Releasing first single Split early last month, listeners were given an idea of what to expect on the album, and the single now sits at over a million streams and views.

Vedo sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

Life in general sparked my love for music, it was somewhat of an escape, to get away from the craziness. I’ve always loved music.

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

I would say, just stay true to yourself. Stay true to your craft and the art itself its very easy to be persuaded into being something that you’re not, find your lane. Stay in it and stand out love what you do so much that you force other people to believe in you.

7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?

You may already know these names, but I have to show love to my guy, Eric Bellinger, Tone Stith, Upstrz, Felly, and so many other amazing artists that I’ve come in contact with just watch out for them.

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

To be honest, this may seem crazy, but I don’t have any albums in rotation right now. I actually listen to a lot of rap, so when it’s time for me to do some R&B, I have a fresh mind.

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

Family time me time working out, figuring out other ways to generate income, passive income things of that nature music isnt gonna always be something that I’ll be doing for the rest of my life so I plan to set season place in other business ventures.

10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?

I can’t live without Don Julio, a locked door and dim lights .
