Rosie Frater-Taylor - Give & Take (Official Video)
November 17th, 2024 - British singer and guitarist Rosie Frater-Taylor returns today with new track Give & Take, the second single from her hotly anticipated forthcoming studio album Featherweight, due for release on Cooking Vinyl on February 9th 2024.
Packing a heavy emotional punch, Give & Take is an introspective, jagged slice of alt pop-rock that explores themes of duality, love and queerness and talks of coming to terms with the mistakes made in a tumultuous relationship. Both lyrically and musically permeated with a heavy sense of rage, the track channels the grace and fluidity of the likes of Lianne La Havas, Bat For Lashes and Madison Cunningham whilst showcasing Frater-Taylor’s own unique vision. The single is released alongside a video directed by Tom Ewbank which depicts the internal battles that arise whilst tackling the complex issues of gender, identity and relationships.
Give & Take is the second track to be released from Frater-Taylor’s forthcoming album Featherweight (pre-orderHERE) and comes hot on the heels of lead single Hold The Weight, which since its release has received widespread support across UK radio and was described by BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders as “a wonderful blend of singer-songwriter music (from an artist) who allows herself to stand out from the rest”.
The follow-up to 2021’s Bloom, which garnered in excess of 3 million streams, Featherweight marks a stylistic shift for Frater-Taylor signalling a bolder, heavier direction and presenting a fresh, unique style that showcases the 24-year-old’s ability to intertwine hard-hitting lyrical ideas with glistening melodies, consummate guitar playing and unpredictable textural contrasts.
Frater-Taylor’s exploratory sound has already attracted the attention of a diverse array of artists including Jimmy Page, Jordan Rakei, Nitin Sawhney, Madison Cunningham and Everything Everything amongst many others, and with Featherweight her complex musicianship is reaching new peaks.
