Shiraz - Body on me (Single) + 10 Questions

Shiraz, shares her new single “Body on me” produced by Nathan and Lovay. Her sound resembles a mixture of many artists such as Thuy and FLO. She meshes genres together with RnB as the main focus seamlessly with a hint of Arab influence. Her first singles "Better without you'' “Come back to you’ and “Come over” helped her build a foundation into the music scene. Shiraz moved to California from France to pursue her musical career. Her background helped influence her sound. On a mission right now, running her music endeavours independently, Shiraz is the next artist to look out for in the RnB scene.

Shiraz sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

Coming from a Tunisian family music has always played a big part in my family, it's a part of our culture.

I’ve been singing ever since I'm a little girl, as a kid I always sang during family gatherings, forcing my cousins to sit and watch me perform haha.

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

As a teenager Alicia keys was my favourite artist, and keeps inspiring me until this day. I think her voice is so rich and soulful. It’s an instrument itself.

Nancy Ajram was one the artists I listened to the most growing up, I learned how to do runs on her songs. She masters it like the pro that she is.

Rihanna is definitely my number one favourite artist, her ability to renew herself every album is what makes her an icon…..She is definitely my dream collab.

3. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?

I have a new song coming up, very RnB, but this time I decided to explore dancehall a little bit more. I like to play with rhythm, slow/fast like the same way you would make love haha.

Sexy, is the word for that song!

4. How would you describe your sound?

In two word “Sexy RnB”, my music is the type of music you want to play to tease your boo at a party haha.

You can also play it if you want to feel yourself with your girls, I suggest “Come over” by SHIRAZ.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

Doing what I love and releasing music that reflects my personality is what makes me proud the most.

I work with amazing producers, sound engineers and drawing artists, and I’m really proud of them.

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

To invest in yourself, and to never give up, I still have a lot to learn, but I won’t give up that’s for sure.

7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?

Chima Dior is one of the RnB artists I’m into lately, he puts me in my feelings every late night drive, he reminds me of Bryson tiller.

Chikoruss is also on my radar, his music reminds me of 2000s RnB hits.

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

FLO’s album “3 of us” is on repeat on my Spotify, I love that they bring the 2000s RnB back, they are a group of 3, so the harmonies are always on point.

I’m also a very big fan of afro beats so Burna boy and Aya Nakamura (afro pop) are always in my ears.

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

I love to cook, it's a big thing for me, I love to have small gatherings at my place with my girls. We love eating, good food is the key to my heart haha.

10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?

My phone (that’s where I write my lyrics).

My cup of peppermint tea and honey.

My water to keep my vocal cords hydrated.
