In her fourth single, Mariella eloquently narrates a story of unrequited love and the struggles of maintaining a friendship after heartbreak and betrayal in “Clueless”. Her smooth vocals seamlessly blend with a chilled R&B groove, allowing her to convey her own vulnerabilities. Mariella's smooth vocals effortlessly glide above the soulful production, characterised by a lively neo-soul rhythm and the resounding chords of an electric piano.

After leaving school at the age of seventeen to pursue her passion for music, Mariella has dedicated herself to perfecting her craft. Her early inspiration came from female guitarists with powerful voices like Lianne La Havas, Lauryn Hill, and Bonnie Raitt. This led her to pick up the guitar and eventually earn a Songwriting degree from BIMM.

As time has passed, Mariella's musical style has matured, striking a harmonious balance between delicacy and strength in her vocal range. Her songs are imbued with sensitive, passionate and vulnerable storytelling, reflecting her observations and understanding of the world around her. She draws inspiration from artists such as Jorja Smith, Sinead Harnett and Sabrina Claudio, infusing her lyrics over sultry and emotive R&B with alternative production.

Her journey began with her first session alongside East London-based producer Federico Bigonzetti, who later produced her debut singles. "Clueless" served as the catalyst for Mariella's soulful sound and marked the beginning of numerous long-term collaborations, establishing her presence in the thriving London R&B scene.

Furthermore, Mariella collaborated with British house duo Dusky on their fourth studio album, "Pressure", in late 2022, adding her signature soulful tones to the closing track "Stepper".

Mariella has previously received radio support from BBC Radio 1’s 'Future Artists’ on both Jack Saunders and Arielle Free’s shows, BBC R1’s 'Future Soul’ show with host Victoria Jane and continued support from BBC Introducing (Abbie McCarthy).

The songwriter's talent has been acknowledged by Spotify, with her tracks featured on New Music Friday UK and Fresh Finds UK & IE. She has also garnered attention from NPR Music, Ones To Watch, DMY and many other music industry influencers.
