DAISY WORLD - break it off (Official Video)
DAISY WORLD, the project of multi-disciplinary LA-based artist Daisy Hamel-Buffa, today announces the release of her long awaited debut solo album 'TOOTHPICK' - out 2nd February 2024. Daisy will celebrate the release of 'TOOTHPICK' with a headline show at The Roxy in Los Angeles on the album's release day, 2nd February. Tickets on general sale this Friday 17th November, here.
To mark the album announcement, DAISY WORLD has released new single "break it off" along with its accompanying video made in collaboration with director of photography Seannie Bryan (Weyes Blood, Skullcrusher, Blondshell).
Self-produced alongside Albert Jairo Gordon and Matt Emonson, Daisy shared insight into the song's inspiration: "I wrote this one morning after my second and final date with a guy who wasn't looking for the same kind of relationship as me. In the past I would have just gone along with it but as I've gotten older I've learned that to get what I REALLY want…I need to say “no! goodbye!” to the things I DON'T want…so I walked away even though he was a really good kisser…"
Of upcoming debut album 'TOOTHPICK' Daisy said: "TOOTHPICK taught me how to believe in myself, in my vision & in all the sounds that I hear in my head. TOOTHPICK allowed me to explore myself and my musicality in a way I never have before. I see myself in this music... I FEEL myself in this music... and I have never been more proud of anything in my life. TOOTHPICK is a coming of age journey that I stumbled into. It's about finally having the courage and confidence to make big & spooky changes in my life, jumping off the cliff and trusting that I would land (semi) gracefully. I'm saying "hello baby!" to the future. TOOTHPICK is about removing alla that gunk stuck in between your teeth and showing the world your bright and beautiful smile."
Growing up under a musical spell cast equal parts by Carole King & Snoop Dogg, Daisy Hamel-Buffa is now a firm fixture of LA music culture, having previously has extended her gifts to the likes of Steve Lacy(the sole feature on his Grammy Award nominated 2019 album 'Apollo XXI') as well as accompanying Tyler, The Creator on the song “RISE!” from his Grammy Award winning 2021 album 'CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST'.
Daisy’s creativity elsewhere has found a home across several outlets, notably as the frontwoman & namesake of the (now defunct, yet widely adored) band DAISY and as a visual artist whose hand-painted garments have found their way into the wardrobes of FINNEAS and Benny Blanco.
