Berlin-based interdisciplinary artist douniah releases her debut solo EP A Lot, Not Too Much on LP and digital. Accompanied by a short film, created by Elena Cremona & Nils Hansen.

Agadir-born and Hamburg-raised, douniah engages in the practice of interpreting her spirit, impressively, in German, Darija, and English. We find here, a body of work that threads together the tenets of free-form poetry and romanticism, backdropped by neo-experimental jazz tendencies. In euphony, a worldly array of instruments act in symbiosis to carry us through the EP. douniah’s voice is one to fall into; her message is enunciated with every word, delivered delicately with an inventory of riffs and ranged tone. The utilisation of choppy, note-like, freestyles bridges the EP’s strong singles, into rhapsodic whole.

"This record came together during a time where I had to sit with things that were left untouched for long, occupying my head, one after the other. A scattering of words that made no sense even after putting them together. Poems I couldn't find titles for. Sending this out is a beautiful way of letting go and making space for more. I'm thinking of the changing sounds, and collection of poems, as a representation of the complexity of 'explaining how one feels' when you're in the middle of actually feeling it.

In essence, It was A Lot, but Not Too Much more than what i'm used to." - douniah
