Jamaican rising star Monifa Goss has made her name crafting uplifting dancehall pop around stunning vocals. Her debut EP release entitled Eve, out on 24th November on EMPIRE via Creed Music Global, is an emphatic confirmation of this emerging artist’s talents.

A seven–track EP that includes collaborations with Jamaica’s Daddy1 and Brazil’s Gabra, Eve has a mix of styles which underpin Monifa’s approach, ranging from full dancehall bangers to more poppy tracks, all boasting her impressively strong RnB vocals.

“When I started Eve I knew it had to be about female empowerment because that’s what Monifa Goss goes hard for”, Monifa says of the EP. “I’m a feminist. I believe in women experiencing equality right across the board whilst winning and dominating like crazy and that’s why I called the EP Eve. I brought it back home to the first woman that ever walked on planet earth. She went through all the phases us women go through now in the present and I just thought that someone needed to pay her some homage.”

Opening track ‘Bad Gyal’ comes roaring out of the gate with an exuberant dancehall pop anthem, celebrating the original ‘Bad Gyal’ Eve. The track comes with a music video also dropping on 23rd November. Shot by Hue Wisdom, the video features the star partying up in the club, Gossy style. “The styling, choreography, makeup, hairstyling, filming, editing - it was just screaming Bad Gyal Gossy!” Monifa says of the video. “I just wanted to showcase what a true Bad Gyal was in the music vid whilst paying homage to my culture and I know for a fact that we aced it!”

Recent single ‘Outside’ follows, seamlessly mixing RnB and dancehall with a pop twist, showing off Monifa’s prowess as a vocalist and melody-maker. A melange of sunny harmonies and sublime synths, the track is a joyful break for freedom, documenting Monifa’s thoughts of longing during lockdown. Elsewhere on the EP, highlights include ‘Vibe’, the collaboration with rising Jamaican Dancehall artist Daddy1, and ‘The One’ featuring reggae musician Gabra.

Monifa Goss aka “Gossy” was raised in Kingston, Jamaica in a small community, but with the goal of becoming a world-renowned international artiste. Aiming to be a “triple threat”, her style comprises a fusion of pop, dancehall, reggae, soul and trap, with inspiration coming from role models such as Rihanna, Beyoncé, Whitney Houston, Fantasia, Jazmine Sullivan, Lady Saw, Ikaya, Buju Banton and Spice.

Monifa is a renowned young star in Jamaica, after being the first runner up for the Digicel Rising Stars competition in 2016, receiving the Marcus Garvey award alongside the Ardenne Choir, and winning Best Reggae Piece from JCDC in 2014. She is also a multi-time winner of the “What's The Verdict" competition on Roots FM Radio Station.

She also was placed number one on the Empress Tashai's Miami chart in 2017 with her single ‘Rise’ which also topped the charts in Zimbabwe in the same year. Other notable releases include ‘Release My Love’, ‘Bunna Man’, ‘Bye B’, ‘Dead Beat’, ‘Hustle Hard’, and ‘Work mi cum’ featuring Konshens which has made waves around the world, especially in the UK.

2023 started as a rough year for Monifa with the loss of her mom, however in honour of the late Miss Jean Oliver-Simmonds, Monifa decided to push hard for her dream to make her mother proud. In July 2023, Monifa Goss entered the “Magnum Top Performa” competition, becoming the runner up. She also performed on the popular music series “From the block” with the influential Youtube channel 4 Shooters Only.

With her debut EP, Monifa Goss serves up an irresistible selection of dancehall-infused pop - and yet another milestone in this breakthrough artist’s unstoppable rise.
