Tim Lyre ft: Jords - MASTA (Official Video)

Rising Afro-fusion artist Tim Lyre drops the video for his high energy single, ‘MASTA’, featuring Croydon-bred rapper Jords. Produced by Tim and Code6, ‘MASTA’ is a unique fusion of Amapiano and Dancehall which gives both artists a license to demonstrate their multi-layered styles, switching effortlessly between dynamic flows and punchlines. Directed by Fhuad Braimoh, the slick video captures Tim and Jords in South London, with a nod to the city that bought these two artists and sounds together. Tim enlisted Jords for a memorable verse on a braggadocious, self-assured anthem. Speaking on the collaboration Tim said: “This song is the center piece of this whole project, It’s about believing in yourself absolutely, no one better to do this with than Jords, I’m glad we’ve got the video to match the energy.”

Tim Lyre has been making music from a young age, trained in classical piano; he also plays the Guitar, Organ, and Bass. He is best known for his acclaimed debut album 'Worry < (pronounced ‘worry less’), released in March of 2022, a project that instantly cemented itself as a cult classic in the Alté scene. His music always showcases his profound versatility, taking in elements of Hip-hop, Dancehall, Amapiano, R&B, and Afrobeats through his afro-futurist gaze. Tim’s EP 'MASTA' was created between his hometown of Lagos and his acquired home in London. 'Chasing Wind', 'Confess', ‘Tighter’ and ‘Why Evils’ taken from the project have developed an appetite for more music and garnered support from COLORS, BBC Radio 1, MTV Base, BBC Radio 1Xtra, Rinse FM, Reprezent, and The Beat amongst others. So far in his musical journey, Tim has collaborated with Prettyboy DO, Lex Amor, MOJO AF, and Lady Donli, with Tay Iwar, Minz, Khanyisa and UK rapper Jords now joining him on ‘MASTA’ and this evolving collaborative list. Last week Tim dropped another new single, ‘Ecstasy’ with australian afropop artist Adrian Dzvuke, successfully melding the Australian and Nigerian afro scenes.

Tim's music has become synonymous with positivity and mindfulness, and he expresses himself openly, bending language into new and vibrant shapes. He is all about good vibes and making music accessible for lovers of all genres, and he has spent the last year travelling the world and making genreless songs that transcend borders. The multi-instrumentalist, singer, rapper, and producer has been tipped by Tidal and Audiomack this year as one of Africa's artists to watch; so far this year, he has shown his versatility, flourishing in whatever sonic space he is given. On ‘MASTA’ he has enlisted Jords, the Croydon-based artist has earned his stripes consistently demonstrating his musical prowess and has been on a meteoric rise since the release of ‘Almost an Adult’ in 2020. Notably, he holds the distinction of releasing the first UK rap album with legendary label Motown Records, releasing the album 'Dirt in the Diamond’ earlier this year showcasing his unique talent and appeal. Alongside this, Jords released a 27-minute short film of the same name, which was selected for the TriBeCa Film festival, and nominated for 11 awards, including 3 UK music video awards. Jords has continued this trajectory, his single ‘Fist In The Sky’ was included in the EAFC 24 soundtrack and he recently sold out the iconic Jazz Cafe in London.
