Aretha Fontaine - Therapy Notes (EP)

Rising star Aretha Fontaine takes listeners on a soulful journey of personal growth and self-discovery on her sublime debut EP ‘Therapy Notes’.

Based on her real-life therapy notes, Therapy Notes is an EP charting the beginning of Aretha Fontaine’s career, and her journey to becoming a better mother and a better person.

Aretha first introduced the EP in September with lead single ‘Reassurance’ , establishing her as a rising star in the RnB scene. Living up to this early promise, Therapy Notes’ four tracks are a journey of self discovery for the singer, offering inspiration for others to go to therapy and understand who they are.

Kicking off the release with sultry harmonies and smooth keys, ‘Flowing’ is a sublime slow jam about processing hurt, healing love and success and flowing through life “just like water”. Based on an epiphany from a therapy session and soundtracked by a cool bassline, ‘Restore My Mind’ sees Aretha taking the time to breathe after a series of challenging life events such as losing her father and having a child at a young age, and emerging stronger than ever. Next up, lead single ‘Reassurance’ offers a change of mood, with melancholic acoustic guitar and gentle piano setting the scene for a touching story about affirmation and communication in relationships.

Finally, inspired by Megan Good & Tyler’sHarlem’, EP closer ‘Bad Habits’ sees Aretha subverting norms and addressing the mistakes women can make in relationships. Lifted up by gorgeous vocal harmonies and ascending chords, it’s a fittingly self-reflective end to a life-affirming EP.
