Miranda Joan - I Love You, Dwayne (Official Video)

November 3rd 2023 marks one year since Canadian-born, Brooklyn-based singer, songwriter, and musician Miranda Joan released her love letter to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Co-produced by CARRTOONS, “I Love You, Dwayne” throws it back with an old-school, sultry R&B groove. Over the last year, the track received support from Tony Minvielle (Jazz FM), A. Harmony (CBC), Stereofox and EARMILK, but still no comment from Dwayne himself.

Taking inspiration from Dwayne’s story and career, and his focus on hard work and love, Miranda allowed herself to piece together a world of creative partners, collaborators and humour around the track. “There was a lot going on in my personal life and I think there was something special and odd and frankly hilarious to have had this particular song to rally around”.

The video for “I Love You, Dwayne” was featured on the @whatisnewyork Instagram and shows Miranda leaning into her “inner Dwayne”. “The life-size cut out was in my room before the video shoot. He is the personification of strength, and embodies the word in more ways than one, so when I needed to be strong, he was a good person to have in my corner - both literally (he was in the corner of room, standing tall at 6’5”) and figuratively”.
