Anieszka - Anomaly (Single)

Music has always been a form of healing for the remarkably evocative Australian/Mauritian artist Anieszka. Motivated by creating art from deep within, connection is at the core of her work. Fusing R&B, Neo-Soul and her Mauritian roots, she also provides introspection with her thought-provoking writing. Her sound has previously been championed by the likes of Bandcamp Daily & BBC Radio with her infectious brand of hypnotic soul.

Her new offering ‘Anomaly’ sees Anieszka address issues of self-worth, and confrontational scenarios and finding that one person who is different from all the others. Dreamy synth patterns lure the listener into a hazy serene state, before a heavily swung Kaytranada-esque bounce takes hold, capturing an irresistible groove. On the track’s genesis, she explains: ‘I’ve never written a song like Anomaly before, where the story evolves as the song progresses. I think it was a really interesting way of encapsulating what a lot of us feel when it comes to a connection. Ultimately, we all want to love and be loved, but we live a generation where everyone is scared to do exactly that. At the core of it all, when we meet someone and we feel there’s a real connection, we ask ourselves will this person be the one that’s different from all the rest? Will they stay in their fear or surrender to the connection? Ultimately, will they be the Anomaly? We will all meet our Anomaly at some point in our life, this song is a reminder to trust in that, and to trust in love.’ On working with Melbourne-based producer Tentendo, Anieszka says: “Tentendo’s addictive production style consists of carefully layered percussion and thick synths saturated in sweet, sticky vocals with thumping bass lines to colour the melodic madness. Lush, RnB neo-soul at its very best.’
