A boy named ROSA - Picky (Remixes)

A boy named ROSA returns with his track "Picky," taken from his recent debut project, "FEMALE." "Picky" is a clever social experiment wrapped in a captivating tune. ROSA weaves witty elements into the lyrics, playing with relatability and a tongue-in-cheek style.

Today also sees the release of two remixes for “Picky” by notable up-and-coming producers from the Netherlands: Emperose and Vice Vic, co-produced by ROSA.

Emperose, a producer and keyboardist with a penchant for Lo-Fi instrumentals, has garnered millions of streams on Spotify. Influenced by J Dilla and Kaytranada, Emperose transforms "Picky" into a groovy, dancefloor-ready piece.

Vice Vic, an underground producer from Amsterdam, is recognized for his unconventional sampling techniques and intentionally preserving a raw, gritty quality in his productions. Drawing inspiration from Dilla, Madlib, and The Alchemist, Vice Vic gives "Picky" a slowed-down, Deep-House-esque edit, showcasing his signature dusty sound. Notably, Vice Vic also crafted the climactic outro of ROSA's recent visual "She Belongs to the Show (Part 2)."

This revamped version of "Picky" includes a freshly recorded second verse, contributing an additional layer to the lyrics' playful nature absent in the original.

The "FEMALE" project, where "Picky" finds its home, is a thought-provoking exploration of modern dating and courtship. As a self-taught singer, songwriter, rapper, and composer, ROSA defies genre norms, blending alternative R&B with hip-hop and mainstream pop aesthetics. The project delves into themes of vulnerability, challenging stereotypes of masculinity, and addressing mental health issues. "FEMALE" is a mosaic of relief, regret, longing, and resentment, offering an honest and transparent glimpse into ROSA's emotional world.

The album cover, photographed by Burundian model and LGBTQ+ activist Nella Ngingo, symbolizes ROSA's inherent need for female love and care. Holding an old issue of XXL Magazine with JAY Z on the cover, ROSA signals his inspiration to carve his path, just like his idol.
