Wayne Webster - Broken Crayon (Album) + 10 Questions

Bristol based rapper Wayne Webster has just released his second album “Broken Crayons”.

Wayne was diagnosed with BPD back in 2017 and found comfort in writing rhymes and making music. This album is heavily centred around mental health. Speaking on the album, Wayne said “I’ve had the pleasure of working with some of my idols on this album and to have them featured is such an amazing feeling”. “I’ve also had a lot of support from Adam Crowther from BBC upload and BBC Introducing, shouts to him for everything”.

I’ll be touring the album this summer plus got a few interviews coming up with some big names in the UK hip hop scene which is exciting, so look out for more details coming soon!

The album is 14 tracks of dopeness with features from: Elmaine, Caz, Rick Fury, Bruva Smokes, Ill Skyes, Sublingual, Reevo reli and Leocaseeno. The beats for Broken Crayon were produced by my man BLASH accept Litterbug, which was produced by French producer KLS Prod. The album was all recorded at Room4studios, the mix down was done by Phill Davies and art work by Silent Hobo.

Wayne sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

So my dad was the lead singer of a Rock N Roll band (The Corvette’s) and my whole family has always been heavily into music … I was that kid sat in the corner with my helicopter ear defenders type headphones blaring the Beverly Hills theme tune over and over lol yeah I just always been around it ya’ know. I always had an incredible imagination, I once wrote a story back in junior school, I must of been 8-9 and I remember my teacher was so impressed that all the other teachers passed it round and they all took it home and read it lol, MAD. There’s many story’s but yeah I always had that but I started writing lyrics when I was 14, I was into hardcore and Drum N Bass, then from 19-20 started writing to hip hop the rest is history.
