Mace The Great ft: Manga Saint Hilare - Reason To (Official Video)

Fast becoming known as a trailblazer for Welsh rap, the Cardiff based MC Mace The Great is here to further cement his hometown hero status with the release of his new single ‘Reason To’, featuring the much-loved grime-scene mainstay Manga Saint Hilare.

‘Reason To’ is a cruddy throwback to Grime’s roots. With no hook in sight, Mace and Manga trade potent verses over a frosty beat reminiscent of the boundless energy of early Eskimo Dance radio sets. The video sees the pair trade bars across London before shelling down a set together at Manga’s headline show.

“This song captures that proper old school grime energy that I grew up on and was the reason I started making music in the first place.” Mace The Great explains. “No chorus, just a beat n’ bars back to back. This one’s for anyone who’s a fan of grime!” 

Since his previous singles ‘Loyalty’ and ‘Wicked & Bad’ eyes are fixed on Mace The Great’s next move. Huw Stephens has been vocal about him, repeatedly supporting him on his BBC radio show and including him in his BBC 2 Documentary exploring Welsh music. His partnership with Arts Council Wales has brought him international attention, having performed at a New York industry showcase in support of Wales’ World Cup campaign and on top of this support from wider UK tastemakers such as Wordplay Magazine, The Pit, Mixtape Madness and Trench.

Reason To’ is the rising rapper’s latest single from his forthcoming album ‘Splott World’, named after his hometown in Cardiff, and with increasing attention both locally and nationally, he’s well on his well to getting Splott on the map as a hub of UK rap.
