YVY MARAEY ft: Raiza Biza - Water (Official Video)
Following the release of her single Olé, YVY MARAEY teams up with rapper Raiza Biza for single ‘Water’.
Working alongside New Zealand born talent: guitarist/producer Simon Abela, singer songwriter/producer Noah Slee, and Rwandan– Kiwi wordsmith Raiza Biza. The track was born out of the lockdown period and has patiently been awaiting its release until now, with its surface being as hypnotically rippling as its title.
The audio is met with stunning visuals captured in and around Karekare beach on New Zealand's west coast, shot by highly-accomplished local director Connor Pritchard. Serving as a stunning celebration of and homage to all indigenous cultures across the world, the video gives space to each of its characters to honour their traditional clothing from respective countries, these include, Tupi Guarani, Tahiti, Philippines and of course Rwanda.
Speaking on the track and the video, in her own words YVY MARAEY explains; “The song “Water” makes me think of my roots which automatically brings me back to the feeling of being in nature. For me one of the most sacred moments are when I get to connect with the natural world, it’s always the best medicine for me. It reminds me of everything being a constant cycle of growth. This also inspired me to want to shoot the music video in stunning New Zealand. Literally all the shots are demonstrating the unique beauty of Aotearoa. I got to live in Auckland for over a year and fell in love with the power of this amazing nature and the strong indigenous culture of the Māori people."
Working alongside some credited individuals in this track, songwriter Noah Slee and rapper Raiza Biza have both been championed by and performed for prestigious Berlin platform Colors.
‘Water’ is the second instalment to YVY MARAEY’s debut EP ‘NO PARAÍSO’ which will be supported by a launch party in Rio De Janeiro and a headline tour in Brazil.
