Frankie Jobling - Where Do You Go When You Go Quiet (Single)
Ahead of a bustling 2023 with a string of releases and credible live dates, Newcastle-based Neo-Soul singer-songwriter Frankie Jobling looks towards the release of her upcoming single “Where Do You Go When You Go Quiet”.
Frankie’s first single of 2023, “Where Do You Go When You Go Quiet” boasts raw, vulnerable emotion on a track that can only be described as a neo-soul anthem, placing Frankie’s delicate but sweet vocals on a pedestal; the combination of which results in a spine-chilling first listen that resonates with each listener whether they identify the actions in themselves or a loved one.
Especially important in the current climate of political instability, recession and cost of living crisis, Frankie’s songwriting reminds us of the ever growing importance of discernment amongst those close to us. The brutally honest lyricism reflects on pain and concern, yet it’s Frankie’s calming demeanour that balances the track to present a distinctively contemporary take on the usual Neo-Soul sound, with her voice gliding over the flawless production arrangement.
Speaking on the track, Frankie says: “Where Do You Go When You Go Quiet is a song about mental health and the distance that struggling with problems alone can put between you and your loved ones. I wrote it in August 2021 after watching a loved one suffer in silence - instead of being able to open up, you could see the distracted way they drifted off sometimes hence the lyrics “where do you go when you go quiet”.
Although still relatively fresh on the scene, with only three official releases to date, Frankie Jobling ascends through the Neo-Soul ranks with her seamless catalogue that continues to stun from the radiant visuals to the effortless vocal ability. Inspired by the likes of Aretha Franklin and Billie Holiday, it’s of no surprise that Frankie has been compared to soul royalty Jorja Smith so early in her career.
